One of a kind handmade stoneware bowl, embellished with kintsugi, paint and ink. Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and powdered gold. It regards breakage and repair as part of the history and beauty of an object rather than something to conceal. This series of work explores the strength and beauty to be gained by embracing imperfection and change.

Diameter of bowl is 5.25”, height is 3.5”. Please note that this is a decorative object only and should not be used to hold liquids or food items. (Unlike most of my kintsugi items, I did not make this bowl. I got it from a shelf of unwanted items at the ceramic studio I use and I don’t know who made it. I like to think I gave it a second life!).
