It makes me sad seeing trees pulled up, even ones in weird concrete containers next to the street. They were a nice little green patch in a sea of concrete (sometimes I am so NOT a city person!) and I kind of liked the contrast between the boxy white containers and the tree shapes.

I hope they’re going to put in more trees although I’m not getting my hopes up.

Today I lived a cliche and stopped to smell the roses.

I took the day off work since tomorrow is my birthday and I always take a day off for my birthday, to do whatever I feel like doing, hopefully nice relaxing things. I got up at the same time I would usually get up for work, and went for a nice two-hour walk in Wissahickon Valley Park. So pretty…I’m amazed by the  mild weather we’ve been having. I usually hate having a summer birthday because it’s often too hot to do nice outdoors things.

I have had this plant for years. When I bought it, it had white flowers on it, but they soon dried up and fell off. It never made any more flowers until now. I don’t know why. It had been looking pretty unhappy actually, so I moved it closer to the window. But it already had the flower when I moved it. First my christmas cactus bloomed for the first time this year, now this guy! I hope my orchid reblooms too!

Visited my parents for Father’s Day. We made pizza on the grill, which is what I really meant to be today’s picture, but I forgot to take a photo of them! So here is my parents’ backyard, where I spent my childhood playing. And which is the reason why although I love the city I also feel happiest being around trees and nature.

Sat under this tree at lunch. My life needs more sitting under trees.

Came upon some pretty red roses during lunch today.
