Happy 2016! I love the beginning of a new year and take it as an opportunity to consider the past year- the good, the bad, and what to continue in the coming year and what to change. The biggest thing I intend to work on for 2016 is cultivating a more positive attitude. I realized that I tend to focus on the negative and forget about the positive. For example, many of my 2015 shows were quite successful, but some were awful. But the bad ones took up so much more space in my head and so much more emotional energy.
I never got around to working on my December digital collage- December is easily my least favorite month and I don’t find it particularly inspiring as a starting concept. Quite a few of these monthly collages have been inspired by the weather of that particular month, and December’s weather was so freaky. It was 70 degrees on Christmas Day! There are crocuses coming up in my yard, and my quince tree is already blooming. So if I made a collage that was actually inspired by the weather it would look more like spring! So far for the image in progress I’ve mostly used pieces from my December daily art journal. It still has a way to go but at least I finally got it started!
