More small collage work this morning- kind of frustrating, un-flow, un-focused, mind chattery morning. This piece in particular (below) felt really difficult this morning. I finally started to feel good about it after I remembered this nice gold ink that I had stashed away in a drawer. The piece isn’t done yet but I think it’s turned the corner.
I also decided to rework a piece from last year. I just added the two circles and the bubble doodles today. After this photo was taken I also started adding some gold ink. It feels a bit unbalanced now, in a bad way, not in a pleasantly asymmetrical way. The circles are slightly off-center. Just enough to feel unbalanced, not enough to be interesting. Part of the problem with this “do art first thing in the morning” plan is that it’s REALLY hard to stop working when my allotted time is up. I guess I have the same problem if I do art in the evening, but then I just put off going to bed. Right now I”m supposed to be working on other projects that actually pay me money! I think it’s good to stop in the middle of something though because it will probably make it easier to jump right in tomorrow.
