On Saturday Feb. 23 I participated in the first-ever 30th St. Craft Market, a joint venture of VIX Emporium and University City District. After mostly taking a break from shows last year, I’m looking for different shows/venues that I have not sold at before to try out this year. So I was excited to hear about this show. I was one of 30 local vendors set up in the North Waiting Room at the station. Setup was very easy since we were able to pull right into the valet parking area at the station to unload. This was my first indoor show where I had a full 10×10 space, so I purchased some extra support bars for the mesh sidewalls (from Flourish.com) I use for my outdoor show tent so I could use them indoors. I arrived extra early because I wasn’t sure how difficult it would be to set up the walls, but it actually wasn’t bad at all. Here are some (lousy iphone photos of my setup):
I was happy to be able to put some of the larger prints on the outer wall for increased visibility. Overall I was very pleased with this show- the setup and organization was really good. The vendors were arranged nicely in the room and weren’t too crowded. I’ve been to some shows where there were just too many vendors crammed into too small a space and it just becomes difficult for potential customers to look at anything. There was a pretty steady flow of people for most of the day, and I was happy with my total sales. As usual it was nice chatting with fellow vendors- those I’ve seen before at other shows and also new acquaintances. I’m looking forward to getting back into doing more of these shows! I believe there are going to be more events at 30th St. Station in the future, located outdoors on the “Porch” sidewalk area outside the station.
