Friday June 10, 2011.

Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion in Germantown- the only Victorian house museum in Philadelphia, and right in my neighborhood. I’ve walked/driven by it hundreds of times but never got around to actually visiting. I saw a sign recently for a solo performance of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which of course we had to go to. We had a few minutes to wander around some of the first-floor rooms before the performance, and it was really interesting (if you’re a nerd who loves old historical houses!) and we’ll definitely have to go back for a proper tour. The performance of Dracula was super impressive. I was hoping to find a website for the actor, Josh Hitchens, but alas, no such luck. Here’s a link to a news story with some good photos. And it looks like he’s going to be performing it again in September as part of the 2011 Philly Fringe Festival (along with someone else doing a solo performance of Lovecraft’s “Statement of Randolf Carter, which is super cool because as we were walking home from the performance D. and I were talking about how we wished someone would do a solo performance of something by Lovecraft!)
