Here’s my second project from the Jewelry Design & Metalsmithing class I’ve been taking at University of the Arts- a silver ring. Me being me, I came up with a ridiculous complicated design that took forever to saw out and I cut myself twice, and I spent $50 on the silver, and I didn’t even know if my idea would even work out. I made a paper mockup but metal is a different animal entirely from paper.
Here’s the shape I cut out, still flat:
And here’s a montage of photos. The upper left is when I started to wrap the branches around the top part of the ring but hadn’t sawed off the extra pieces yet. The rest of the photos are of the ring (mostly) completed. I still have some minor filing, sanding, and polishing to do, but it’s basically done. And it turned out pretty much as I had hoped!
