Handmade Philly Book Exchange
I was having so much fun doing two-person collaborative book projects with other artists that I decided to start a larger one with members of Handmade Philly! There are 14 participants. Each person is starting out with a book of their choice, doing some work in it, and then passing it on to another person at the beginning of April. We’ll trade at the beginning of each month after that, so it will take 14 months for each person to receive back the book they started with.
This is the first large collaboration I’ve participated in/organized, and I’m really looking forward to it! It’ll be fun to see what everyone comes up with. I started a blog to document the evolution of the books over time (not much there now, but bookmark it for later!)
Here’s the “book” I’m starting out with- not really a book at all, except in the loose sense of a series of pages. I wanted to make something really flexible that would allow participants to experiment and have fun. Since the pages are loose the order can be varied, they could be cut up, run through a sewing machine, or whatever. I can’t wait to see what people do with it! I’m going to work on altering the box and some of the cards over the next month.
