the evolution of a painting.

Tonight I felt motivated to work on this (relatively) large canvas I’ve had sitting around for months. It’s 24×36″, which is the largest thing I’ve painted in ages. Who am I kidding, it’s been forever since I’ve just painted at all, aside from filling in backgrounds around collaged paper things. I wanted to just let go and have fun and not worry too much about what it was going to be, and just see what evolved. I started by squeezing out entire little tubes of paint, which was fun. I’ve been looking at maps a lot lately, so I think this one wants to be a map-painting. I took photos every couple of minutes, which was kind of fun. It’s not done yet, so I’ll try to document the rest of the process as well!
