Ah, 7/7. The day that was supposed to be my birthday. 7/7/77 in fact. How cool would that have been? Extra lucky? Alas, I was four days late and have been making up for it by being compulsively punctual ever since.
Anyway, today’s photo is of two ads in the train station that have been irritating me for a month now. On the left- “stopping heart disease before it even gets started” and something about genetics. On the right, a monstrous stack of meat and cheese. With some cutesy little heart logo that no doubt says something about health (couldn’t read it from across the tracks). Uh, maybe a good way to “stop heart disease before it even gets started” is not eating a six-inch tall pile of cholesterol and fat. (I’m going away now before I go on a tedious rant about the idiotic prevailing societal attitudes toward health, diet, and disease prevention.)

Sort of like the woman’s magazines that have a cover that says something like “Exercise your way to health” and then shows a beautiful picture of some dessert! Always bothered me.
