Today was the first day of our CSA season. If you don’t know already, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. We pay a certain amount up front to the farm, which supports local agriculture. Once a week a huge box of beautiful organic, local veggies from Red Earth Farm is delivered to our neighborhood. Everyone wins! Ours is a choice CSA, so we get to choose from a list of available items every week. This is our fourth year with Red Earth Farm, and we couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve been looking forward to the season starting up again! This week we got two kinds of lettuce, some spinach, kale, arugula, chard, a baby basil plant, scallions, and two kinds of choy (pac choy and some other kind I forget the name of). I’m really looking forward to tomato season! I gave up on buying store tomatoes over the winter since they are just horrible and pallid and flavorless and it’s just better to do without. Nothing beats a tomato fresh from the farm!
